Robert Scott is the managing partner of Scott & Scott LLP, a downtown-based law firm that has recently established a program to raise more money for Special Olympics Texas through this year’s Uptown Run.
The run is in its 21st year and will be held April 7. Scott said his firm started the Everyone Wins Challenge as a way to reach out to a deserving charity while at the same time getting Uptown residents behind the annual event.

Tell me a little about why your firm started this fundraising program and why the Uptown Run is special to the firm: Scott & Scott developed the Everyone Wins Challenge as a community outreach vehicle to support local charities. Special Olympics athletes personify bravery and strength of character, not only as they compete but in their everyday lives. We are honored to support them. The challenge allows Scott & Scott to automate fundraising efforts, making it easier and faster to reach qualified sponsors and enabling donations with just a few clicks. Web-based technology presents amazing opportunities to harness the power of the Internet for good causes.
Explain the challenge: We have made a commitment to the Uptown Run to raise a minimum of $15,000 for Special Olympics Texas. We will match 100 percent of donations made through the Everyone Wins Challenge until the total donation reaches $15,000 to ensure our fundraising goal is met. We have had great success so far, receiving gold level sponsorship commitments from six companies before we even publicly announced the challenge. With the support of the Uptown community, I think we will far exceed even our own expectations. |

How much does your firm hope to match in donations? We hope to match $7,500 in donations. When we meet that goal, the Everyone Wins Challenge will have increased donations from just $1,500 raised by the Uptown Run’s donations program last year to Scott & Scott’s goal of $15,000.
Are you an active runner? Will you be running the Uptown Run? I am a casual runner, but I have been preparing for the race. I will definitely run with my Scott & Scott team. I am also really looking forward to all of the exclusive race day activities we have arranged to honor our Everyone Wins sponsors. It will be great to have an opportunity to personally convey my appreciation for their support.
Tell me more about yourself: I moved to Dallas in 1975 and consider myself a native. I went to Richardson High School and Austin College in Sherman, Texas, for my undergraduate degree. I now live in Westlake with my wife and two children, a son and a daughter, and our dog, Felony.
What are your hobbies or interests? I enjoy cycling, gardening, skiing, watching professional sports, and playing video games with my son. I am a die-hard Cowboys fan and season ticket holder for the Mavericks and the Stars.
